Hi Everyone I have an answer for all of you that might have the Netgear USB WG111v2 802.11 B/G wireless network adapter. After some extensive googling I found out that the actual chipset used in this usb device is from Realtek Semiconductor and is the RTL8187L chipset. The drivers for MacOSX tiger (10.0 and above) can be found on the following link I have been using the driver and network adapter now for 5 days and everything works great (On my Intel P4 3.0 Ghz Hackintosh running Mac OSX 10.4.10) Also there is no need for special kernel patches from previous versions of the O/S (like patching the wireless from 10.3) to get the driver working. I was just like everyone else trying to find out what driver (if any) was out there for the hackintosh. I just thought outside of the box and went chipset driver searching and not just product driver searching. As for the driver not working in Leopard - It can work in Leopard - the trick is that you need to install the 10.4.5 networking patch (can be found either by searching on here or its on the kalyway and iATKOS install dvd's (I now use iATKOS and have managed to get working my onboard wifi card on my notebook (its an Acer 3681wxmi for reference perposes) Atheros / Intel based using the patched Atheros IO80211Family.kext located on the iATKOS v1 installation dvd. PS I am aware of the sometimes connecting sometimes disconnecting problem but even with that an almost pefect solution is better than none at all. Take care Troy.
I have a WG111v2 running on a P4 3 ghZ hackint0sh installed from the JaS iso running 10.4.8. For some reason whenever I try to start the UI software, the icon bounces up and down (for a while) and after a while, sits there without the arrow under it, indicating it is not running. No window appears, and the only options I get when I right click the icon is to force quit. I have tried reinstalling several times. Please help same here.
I tried to install the networking patch off kalaway disk onto a toh 10.5.0 leo install and it seems the patch on the kalaway dvd is a realtek pci utility. Unless the patch has a different name i cant seem to find the package on the dvd anywhere. So i install the realtek driver posted which is for usb and all it does is bounce for a while and does not work. What exactly is this 10.4.5 network patch and what does it do? Is it safe to install on a fully functional 10.5.2 install? I dont want to mess up my wired networking or pci card, but id like to make sure this usb wifi works so i can install the proper drivers on my laptop (running toh sse2 10.5.0).
